Local and national deals from your local paper
DealMonster is a voucher incentive website, whereby businesses offer a discount incentive through bulk selling. The key aspect of this brief was that the site is owned by Johnston Press PLC, a large publishing firm that produces over 200 local newspapers across the UK, who wanted one site that would host up to 25 of their local newspaper titles. From a consumer point of view, it needed to be - local deals from their local paper.
Maps of the local areas were designed to create a sense of locality; these were displayed in the background of each page along with a designated space to place the logo. A subsection was also created for national deals, promoting holiday-specific offers.
The site incorporated data capture via a client login process which subsequently enabled daily updates to be sent relevant to the users’ interests. E-commerce capabilities were also introduced, due to the sales transactions taking place.
Statistics from analytics showed that not only were the designs attracting new customers, but people were staying on the site longer and browsing through more deals which, in turn, increased revenue.
Following the success of the DealMonster site, we were asked to produce press campaigns, which also worked remarkably well in linking newspaper readers to the site - with the aid of tiny url’s, readers are taken directly to site-specific offers.
